What is the R.I.S.E. initiative?

The R.I.S.E. Initiative is a community-based program of United Way of East Central Alabama designed to support youth as they work toward restoration, responsibility, and long-term success.

Through counseling, case management, community service placement, mentorship, accountability, and partnership with local schools, families, courts, nonprofits, and community organizations, The R.I.S.E. Initiative helps young people build the skills and support systems they need to move forward in a positive direction.

Our Purpose

The R.I.S.E. Initiative works to restore hope, invest in youth potential, support families and community partners, and empower participants to make positive choices.

The program serves youth who may be facing challenges related to juvenile probation, family instability, school concerns, decision-making, or other barriers to success. By combining individualized support with community-based service opportunities, R.I.S.E. helps participants strengthen accountability while also developing confidence, responsibility, communication skills, and meaningful connections.

What R.I.S.E. Provides

The R.I.S.E. Initiative provides a supportive framework that may include:

  • Individualized case management and counseling support
  • Coordination with juvenile probation, schools, families, and court partners
  • Community service placement and supervision
  • Life skills development
  • Leadership and decision-making support
  • Family engagement and home-based support
  • Referrals to community resources and partner agencies
  • Trauma-informed guidance and accountability
  • Opportunities for youth to serve, grow, and reconnect with their community

A Collaborative Approach

The success of The R.I.S.E. Initiative depends on strong partnerships. United Way of East Central Alabama works with schools, families, juvenile probation, courts, nonprofits, service providers, and community organizations to create a coordinated support system around each participant. This collaborative approach helps ensure youth are not navigating challenges alone and that families and partners have the tools and communication needed to support lasting progress.
