United Way Hosts 14th Annual Day of Caring

Friday, March 28, 2008 marked United Way’s 14th year to hold its Day of Caring event for Calhoun County. Over 400 volunteers from area companies came together to work at 30 local non-profit agencies on projects such as painting, landscaping, and carpentry work. Over 2,500 hours of work will be logged by volunteers by the end of the day. “It’s just a wonderful way for this community to come together and spend a day making a difference for those serving our area’s local human service needs,” stated Carol Cleghorn, 2008 Day of Caring Chairperson. “Day of Caring is about the volunteers,” Cleghorn continues. “They make the work possible, they make this event a great success, and they make this community a great place to live and work.”
